Mission Statement

To use the sport of baseball to help all the young players develop positive character traits and values that will aid success in the rest of their lives. Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Hyde Park Kenwood League (HPKL) program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the HPKL Baseball program is design to develop superior citizens/athletes.

Pledge beyond our mission

HPKL aspires to be an outstanding educational-athletic organization that provides a

high-quality experience, in which every athlete:

• Is coached using principles that aspire respect for the game, the players, and
  promote the redefinition of winning as “players giving their best effort for
  the team”
• Has fun playing the game.
• Feels like an important part of the team regardless of performance.
• Learns “life lessons” that have value beyond the playing field.
• Learns the skills, tactics and strategies of the game and improve as a player.

HPKL recognizes coaches most directly make this possible, so they will be provided with the tools to succeed as HPKL coaches. We are committed to creating a culture in which coaches, parents, fans, umpires and athletes work together to achieve this goal.

The Hyde Park-Kenwood Legends Baseball League (HPK Legends) is gearing up for our 37th season of baseball. HPK Legends is a non-profit organization that provides fun, competitive and instruction-based baseball to the children of Hyde Park-Kenwood and its surrounding communities.
